LPGA-USGA Girls Golf
Has your daughter thought about playing golf? Maybe not. In her mind, it could be a dads-only sport. It may also seem intimidating to learn. Neither has to be true. With help from programs like Girls Golf, the game is more welcoming than ever.
Although it’s not the only girls-only program out there, Girls Golf, run by the LPGA in conjunction with the USGA, offers affordable access to professional instruction at more than 200 sites nationwide. Additionally, it allows access to LPGA and USGA events, so girls can see professional ladies golf in person.
The program is important because, beyond the art of driving and reading the green, it creates an environment where girls can play, compete and develop camaraderie on equal ground. This helps promote good friendships, morals and golf skills—all without the distraction of those pesky boys.
Golf is a fun and socially rewarding activity for girls, especially those wanting a less rambunctious, finesse sport. It could also be more affordable than a trip to the mall, so give it a chance.
